Pants for Fall: It Should Be Easier Than This

Let’s say that you wanted to get dressed in the morning. Let’s also say that you had a simple blouse in mind, maybe a color blocked pullover like so:

What would you do next?  Most people would reach for a nice pair of pants. Straight leg, probably, in blue, or black, or gray.

Not me. I would have to go back to bed, because I don’t have enough pants. Jeans, sure. Plenty of those. Shorts, even. But my wardrobe suffers from a severe lack of pants. Maybe it’s because I avoid buying basics when there are more exotic things in store. Maybe it’s because simple, well-cut pants are not all that easy to find. Maybe it’s because pants are the most difficult of pieces to fit. Maybe it’s because I haven’t been to Target in a while.

Here’s what’s on my, I admit it, rather boring pants shopping list. I’m perfectly happy getting simple wardrobe staples like this at mass marketers. The quality is surprisingly good (with proper tailoring, stitiching, buttons, etc.), and frankly they look the same as their 10 x the price cousins.
